Humans have used solar energy throughout history. We dried clothes, tanned hides, preserved meat and fruit, and purified water using solar power. Today we use solar energy to create energy necessary to power our modern and increasingly energy hungry world. The entire population of the earth consumes about 15 terawatts of power at any one time, using the available land we can easily support this with any combination of renewable sources such as wind and solar. Photo-voltaic cells creates electricity directly from sunlight, that is essentially free and very reliable. The sun never sends a bill ! Therefor solar P.V. fixes the cost of energy, whereas the price for utility generated power is constantly increasing.
